NVFN is an informal network of nonprofit, family-led and family-focused organizations serving northern Virginia families impacted by disabilities and mental health conditions. 

Our mission is to elevate the voices of families to improve outcomes for children, youth, and young adults across the systems of care.

The Arc Northern Virginia

The Arc promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and actively supports their full inclusion and participation in the community throughout their lifetimes. Check out The Arc here

Autism Society Northern Virginia (ASNV)

ASNV builds community for over 5,000 individuals and families affected by autism through educaiton, adovcacy, and support. Check out ASNV here

CHADD of NOVA & DC

CHADD is a nonprofit organization that provides information and support to parents of children with attention deficit disorders, adults with attention deficit disorders, and others dealing with people affected by attention deficit disorders. Check out CHADD here

ConnerStrong Foundation 

ConnerStrong Foundation works to bring awareness to mental health issues and suicide prevention and to change the discussion about mental health, especially in our teens and young adults. The foundation also provides outreach and comfort to the families and communities affected by mental health and suicide.

Down Syndrome Association of Northern Virginia (DSANV)

The mission of this organizaiton shall be to ensure that all indvidiuals with Down syndrome and their families receive the support necessary to participate in, contribute to, and achieve fulfillment of life in their community. Check out DSANV here

Formed Families Forward

Formed Families Forward is a family-led resource center supporting foster, adoptive, and kinship families of children and youth with disabilities and other special needs through training, peer supports, consulations, and resources. Check out Formed Families Forward here

NAMI Northern Virginia

NAMI Northern Virginia and its volunteers work together to raise awareness and provide education, advocacy, and support programs for people living with mental illness, families, students, educators, law enforcement, and the public throughout our neighborhoods. Check out NAMI here

Parents of Autistic Children of Northern Virginia (POAC-NoVA)

POAC-NoVA and its predecessor organization has worked for more than two decades to improve the quality and quantity of education for students with autism in Northern Virginia. Check them out on here.

Parent Educational Advocacy and Training Center (PEATC)

PEATC is Virginia's Parent Training and Information Center serving families of children with disabilities or suspected disabilities from birth up through age 26 and the professionals who work with them. Check out PEATC here

Ryan Bartel Foundation 

The Ryan Bartel Foundation is a Loudoun-based non-profit whose mission is to prevent youth suicide through awareness, upstream educational programs, and activities that support and empower youth, families, and the community-at-large through acceptance, connection, resiliency, and hope. Fairfax Special Education PTA (SEPTA)

Representing the approximately 29,000 Fairfax County Public School students receiving special education, as well as their families, educators, and greater community, SEPTA provides a supportive community and educational programming, staff mini-grants and annual awards recognition, and award-winning advocacy on a local, state, and national level to meet the needs of our students.
